First Year Down

As of a couple weeks ago I finished my first year of the Digital Photography program at Durham College. It felt like I had just started a few weeks ago, walking through the Gordon Willey doors, running back and forth trying to find my class, sitting down and not knowing anyone, as nervous as I could be. I met some wonderful people that day and we’ve become good friends. With the blink of an eye, it’s the final class in Video Capture class, in semester two, and we’re done for the summer.

Going back to school was one of the greatest things I have ever done. I feel blessed to be able to wake up every morning, attend Durham college, learn and do what I’m most passionate about and I’m not going to lie, it’s been two weeks and I truly do miss it.

First year was focused on Photography. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun being able to learn and focus on my passion for photography. Window light, Flash, Product, Studio, Fashion, Long Exposure, Architecture, etc.
Though there were ups and downs, struggles and obstacles, it was never a dull moment!

Second semester was different, it was focused on Digital Video. Although it wasn’t exactly my cup of coffee, it was a great learning experience.

Throughout the semester, we had some opportunities to take photographs and here are a few.

Overall it was a great First year! I learned a lot, enjoyed my time and met some wonderful friends. I’m missing the routine, the environment and the people I would share my days with. I can’t wait to see what second year has in store for me in September! xo
